Translation of Filipino Documents

Sworn translations of documents sent in Filipino

For the processing in Spain of official documentation issued in the Philippines, Spanish official bodies request present the documentation in the official language, for which a sworn translation is necessary.

Sworn translations are translations carried out by translators authorised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the European Union and the Spanish Cooperation (MAEC). Sworn translations have legal validity before official bodies and must be presented in paper, signed and stamped by the authorised sworn translator.

Although the Philippines has different official languages, it is advisable to carry out sworn translations from English, since in Spain translations from English are more common than from Filipino and the availability of sworn translators and the fees are much more accessible.

A great quantity of documents exist that need to be translated for the legalisation of documentation issued in the Philippines. The most common documents are:

  • Birth certificates
  • Medical certificates
  • Wedding certificates
  • Birth certificates
