My name is Adam and I am currently studying for a degree in Modern Languages and Cultures at Durham University in the United Kingdom; I am specialising in Spanish, Arabic and Persian languages and cultures. As part of my degree I had the opportunity to travel abroad for a year to immerse myself in the languages and cultures that I am studying. To immerse myself in Spanish I came to Madrid and worked at AltaLingua for 4 months from October 2019 until February 2020.

I’ve known for a few years that I wanted to work with languages and especially in the translation sector, so I sent an email to AltaLingua saying I wanted to improve my Spanish skills at the best translation agency in Madrid and I had the great opportunity to work here as an intern.

I was a little nervous about starting at AltaLingua as a student in the professional world, but those nerves were put to rest as soon as I walked through the door. The team here are second to none and made me feel very welcome immediately, there were plenty of people I can talk to if I have any question or worry about anything. I was really lucky to be able to translate so many different types of texts too; one day I could be working on restaurant menus and the next day legal contracts, all the while having the full support of those around me.
